Cast Iron cookware is without a doubt the most durable cookware available in the world. It has been around for hundreds of years and even though it looks old fashion it outshines everything else available.
There are other cookwares that are equally good to cook with but do not stand up to the test of time. Copper for example is a great way to cook and does it very efficiently but the care factor and the fact that you have to be careful is something that should be considered. The same goes for the Ceramic coated cookware. It is great and safe and will do everything that the Cast Iron will do but cleaning and being careful not to chip it, and it will chip, is a consideration.
Cast Iron needs to be seasoned to prevent sticking. Once it has been seasoned the everyday use improves the seasoning and makes it one of the easiest cookwares to use. I highly recommend Cast Iron for the only cookware you will ever have to buy, period.
